Another acquisition for Brunello Cucinelli, who is expanding the network of manufacturers to support the growth of the company: the target of the operation is Sartoria Eugubina in Gubbio, about 60 km from the Solomeo manufacturing village. The reality includes about 70 highly skilled artisans, specializing in outerwear, who will continue their tailoring art in continuity with what the entrepreneur has started in Penne, where the new 4500 sqm men’s fashion manufacturing facility will be built in 2025, employing around 350 people at full capacity. In the meantime, tailoring activities continue in a rented structure of about 2,000 square meters.
“The story of the small, but important ‘Sartoria Eugubina’ is a noble one, made of genuine craftsmanship that has earned a well-deserved respect” – commented Brunello Cucinelli – “I like to remember the precious work of those who have preserved it until now and we are very happy about this acquisition, which is an enrichment for us in terms of truly special Human Resources. The whole world looks at our Italy with deep respect and we believe that our products tell in a sincere and very special way what is our way of working, the extreme care we put into enhancing the skilled hands of our esteemed artisans. Now, also in Gubbio, we will build a small workshop with a splendid view of the medieval citadel, where it is possible to work in harmony with Creation. I am very confident in the value of beautiful and well-made made in Italy garments that can be passed on as a legacy. Perhaps in the future, the question will be: not to whom we will sell these special garments, but rather which skilled hands will create these small masterpieces.”
The story of Sartoria Eugubina deserves to be remembered, as in 2015 the approximately 30 seamstresses employed at the time saved their company, then called Srap, from the risk of closure, investing around 100,000 euros from their own pockets and also being financially supported by institutions. Nine years ago, at the helm of the Sartoria, and as a partner, came the entrepreneur Rudy Severini while Brunello Cucinelli personally attended the inauguration of the new company. A relaunch formula carried out successfully, as during this period the artisans have more than doubled, also thanks to the strengthening of “tailor-made” production. Last week, the Umbrian brand also presented in Rome the first eyewear collection made with EssiLux, the result of a ten-year license agreement signed in November 2022.
