Freedome: Italy’s leading outdoor marketplace expands into Europe

Freedome, Italy’s leading marketplace specializing in outdoor experiences, closed 2024 with highly positive results: nearly 200,000 experiences sold during the year, approaching a total of 400,000 since its inception, and a turnover exceeding 24 million euros since its founding. Building on this success, the company embarked on an internationalization process in 2024, focusing on expansion into Spain by seeking new partners and broadening its offering, with the aim of replicating its success in Italy and strengthening its position as a European leader in the outdoor tourism sector.

Today, the startup stands as the leader in outdoor experiential tourism in Italy, offering a diverse catalog of over 70 types of activities: from horseback riding, quad tours, rafting, canyoning, and hot air balloon rides, to paragliding and boat excursions. Founded during the Covid-19 pandemic, Freedome successfully tapped into the growing Italian interest in outdoor experiences set in natural environments, while promoting local operators and enhancing often lesser-known destinations.

At the core of Freedome’s model is its social impact. As a Benefit Corporation, the startup aims to foster the development of local communities by turning outdoor tourism into a driver of economic and cultural growth. On one hand, it supports small operators, often located in rural and remote areas, by providing them with a digital presence that enhances their growth and financial sustainability. Freedome has generated significant economic value for its partners, disbursing payments totaling €6.3 million, thereby contributing to the growth of the local economy and creating new opportunities for outdoor businesses in the region.

Throughout 2024, Freedome strengthened its workforce to support the company’s expansion, reaching a total of 40 employees with 12 new hires. These additions bolstered the Content, Design, Customer Care, Marketing, Administration, and Sales departments, highlighting a continuous commitment to developing internal skills. Between late 2024 and early 2025, Freedome also established its first dedicated team for the Spanish market, composed of specialists in Sales and Content, marking the official launch of the platform’s international growth.
