Astonishment at the International Art Exhibition held in the community of Illegio (Udine) due to some scientific investigations that would confirm the presence of an original painting at the exhibition. Le Restaurant de la Sirène à Asnièrs could be recognized as a genuine Vincent Van Gogh’s work. This has been announced today by don Alessio Geretti, the scientific curator of the exhibition “Nulla è perduto” (Nothing is lost), and Claudio Falcucci, study director of the diagnostic center for fine arts “Metodologie d’Indagine per la Diagnostica Artistica”. It is an oil painting on canvas (45×36 cm) very similar to the bigger one with the same title exhibited at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, already recognized as original work of Van Gogh. After investigations on the better known painting of the Musée D’Orsay, experts claim “we can legitimately expect the confirmation of a more considered studio-based draft of the one exhibited at the French museum”. The certificate of attribution must be issued by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, where the piece of art will be presented along with the information derived from the analysis. The painting will stay at Illegio’s exhibition until its closing day, 13 December 2020.
